Finance Internship

About the Role & Program:

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within the sport industry with Sport Venture Group, focusing on financial strategy and reporting for sports-focused projects and initiatives. As part of our team, you’ll play a critical role in analyzing financial documents, supporting operational plans, and providing insights to help drive the success of our ventures in the sport industry as well as initiatives from our foundation which we provide operational support for.  This internship is a part-time, six-month commitment that is primarily remote based but may require some onsite time in Charleston, SC and/or international travel, running from January 2025 to June 2025.

What You Will Do:

As an intern with Sport Venture Group, you’ll contribute to key areas, including:

• Assisting with the preparation and analysis of financial documents, journal entries, and account reconciliations to meet internal and external financial deliverables.
• Analyzing sports business strategies, new investment opportunities, and operational productivity initiatives.
• Collaborating on annual operating plans and monthly forecasts, offering recommendations to drive performance and efficiency.
• Developing presentations for senior leadership and clients highlighting financial insights and strategic recommendations tailored to the sports industry.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong understanding of accounting and finance principles with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables) and PowerPoint for creating financial models and presentations.
• Excellent communication and partnering skills to engage with various stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Passion for sport and understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the sports industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

• An interest in pursuing certifications such as CPA, CFA, or other financial designations.
• Previous coursework or practical experience in sport finance, sport business, or economics.

Education:

• Junior or Senior year in an accredited college/university.
• Majors or coursework in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or Sports Management are highly preferred.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree (at least one course during application) OR participating in a formal internship program.
• Be at least 18 years of age with unrestricted work authorization.
• Ability to commit to part-time hours (20+ hours/week) for the entire internship duration.
• Must provide own housing and transportation during the internship.

• This internship may include hybrid work, requiring a reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace for remote days.
• Compensation starts at $1,500.00 per month, with select benefits provided depending on the position.
